The high concentration of xylitol has an alkaline effect, unlike conventional sugar, and neutralizes harmful acids in the mouth that could attack tooth enamel. In concrete terms, this means: you check the packaging to see how many carbohydrates are stated. From that, you subtract the information "of which polyhydric alcohols". The result is the number that you need to take into account in terms of insulin dosage.
