What is Hyporest?
Hyporest is the first flavorless dextrose product, developed for people who want to dose their glucose intake consciously and without a candy-like character. The tablets are swallowed whole with liquid.
Hyporest is gluten-free and lactose-free according to the manufacturer's specifications (≤ 20 mg/kg gluten according to Regulation (EC) 41/2009) and is GMO-free. This makes the product tolerable for many users, for example, people with diabetes, during sports, or in everyday school life.

Hyporest and Diabetes: Glucose with Control
Especially in daily life with diabetes, controlled glucose intake is important. Hyporest Original provides 5 g of dextrose per dosing spoon, which you can count as 0.5 CU in your personal insulin calculation. Glucose contributes to normal energy metabolism [1].
Personal application amounts around hypoglycaemia should be discussed with your diabetology practice and nutrition counseling [2,3]. In cases of severe hypoglycaemia (unconsciousness, seizure), glucagon (prescription only: GlucaGen HypoKit injection or Baqsimi nasal spray) and/or an emergency call to 112 is required [2].
An additional aspect for people with diabetes: The risk of periodontitis is increased according to the S3 guideline "Diabetes and Periodontal Diseases" [4]. Classic hypo-helpers like dextrose tablets or lollipops bring sugar into direct contact with teeth, which is particularly unfavorable after brushing teeth in the evening. Hyporest tablets have a coating and are swallowed, which can prevent sugar contact with teeth.
