You can dose Xucker Light like regular sugar to sweeten drinks and foods; the double-layered sticks protect the contents from moisture and are easy to tear open and pour out. Erythritol dissolves easily and is the best-tolerated of all sugar alcohols because the body excretes it almost completely unchanged. It is appreciated as part of a carbohydrate-conscious and ketogenic diet. In Japan, erythritol has been used in foods and medicines since 1990; it was approved in the USA in 1997 and in the EU in 2006 as a food ingredient without quantity restrictions. The raw material is corn from the EU (non-GMO); it is produced in France by fermenting dextrose from corn starch and packaged in Germany. Consuming foods and drinks containing erythritol instead of sugar contributes to the maintenance of tooth mineralisation. Excessive consumption may have a laxative effect. A varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle remain important.

For the information shown in the shop, we subtract the listed polyols from the carbohydrates. Always compare the same reference amount, such as 100 g. This is our calculated net-carb figure and not an individual insulin-dosing recommendation.
How do I convert countable carbohydrates into KE or BE?
Use the Diabetes KE Calculator from Zuckerschmuck: select an item from the range or enter the value per 100 g, specify the amount in grams, and the countable carbohydrates will be converted into KE and BE; the calculator does not provide a dosing recommendation. One KE corresponds to 10 g of carbohydrates, and one BE to 12 g of carbohydrates.
Is erythritol suitable as a sugar substitute for people with diabetes?
“For diabetics” is no longer an official product category for foods. Xucker Light is a sweetener made from erythritol. The nutrition facts table lists 0 g of sugar per 100 g.

How do I calculate insulin for low carb products?
Low-carb products say "sugar-free" on the packaging, but the carbohydrates are usually very high. What does that mean and how much insulin do I need for it? The carbohydrates from polyhydric alcohols have no effect on the metabolism and do not increase blood sugar levels, so they do not need to be calculated in terms of insulin dosage. In concrete terms, this means: you check the packaging to see how many carbohydrates are stated. From that, you subtract the information "of which polyhydric alcohols". The result is the number that you need to take into account in terms of insulin dosage.

We make every effort to deliver your order as quickly as possible. Orders are usually sent to the post office by letter, maxi letter or parcel on the same or next day after payment has been received. Please note: Letters cannot be accepted by packing stations, so always specify a normal home address with a mailbox as the delivery address. If you pay via PayPal and credit card, the credit is usually credited to our account immediately, i.e. we ship the next day. If you pay in advance, it can take a few days, depending on the bank, for the credit to be credited to our account.
