Everyday use

The flower overpatches visually enhance CGM sensors and insulin pump catheters, decorate the skin, conceal distracting tattoos, and protect sensitive gadgets such as piercings from being torn out. For easy changes during the wear time of your Freestyle Libre or Dexcom sensor without tearing it off, we recommend the permanently reusable TapeCover for Freestyle Libre 2, Freestyle Libre 3, and Dexcom G7: they are placed between the sensor and the tape.

For sensitive skin that reacts to sensor adhesive with redness, we offer our skin protection products, along with gentle adhesive removers for removing adhesive residue from CGM sensors and insulin pump catheters. You can find more information in the guide Help with skin irritation caused by sensors and insulin pump catheters.

Frequently asked questions

What is an overpatch, and what is the 10+1 Tape Flower Surprise Mix value pack used for?

An overpatch is tape that is applied over the sensor and gives it a design. The flower overpatch in the surprise mix visually conceals and enhances CGM sensors and insulin pump catheters, decorates the skin, and protects sensitive gadgets such as piercings from being torn out. It is not a fixation plaster in the medical sense.

Does the 10+1 Tape Flower Surprise Mix value pack fit my Dexcom G7, FreeStyle Libre, or Medtronic system?

According to the product information, the overpatch with a diameter of approx. 9.5 cm fits, for example, Freestyle Libre 1 to 3, Dexcom G7, Medtronic Enlite and Guardian, as well as Accu-Chek SmartGuide. According to Abbott, the Freestyle Libre 3 Plus has the same housing as the Libre 3, with a diameter of 21 mm and a height of 2.9 mm.

Is the 10+1 Tape Flower Surprise Mix value pack waterproof, including when showering, swimming, exercising, or sweating heavily?

According to the product information, the tape is waterproof. The manufacturers' specifications apply to the sensors independently of the tape: Dexcom states that the Dexcom G7 sensor is waterproof to a depth of 2.4 m, while Abbott states that the Freestyle Libre sensor is water-resistant to a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. We have no information on how long the tape lasts while swimming or sweating heavily.

Is the material of the 10+1 Tape Flower Surprise Mix value pack skin-friendly, and can it cause skin allergies or irritation?

According to the product information, the tape is gentle on the skin and hypoallergenic, zinc-free and latex-free, and uses a sensitive acrylic adhesive without IBOA (isobornyl acrylate); according to the product information, it causes no skin irritation, skin sensitization, or cytotoxicity. If your skin still reacts, speak with your diabetes care team.

Does the center or opening of the sensor need to remain uncovered when I apply the 10+1 Tape Flower Surprise Mix value pack?

For the Freestyle Libre, Abbott specifies that the sensor hole must not be covered when applying tape over it. We have no German manufacturer information on this for Dexcom G7 and Medtronic Enlite or Guardian.

Can I change the 10+1 Tape Flower Surprise Mix value pack while the sensor is still in use without tearing off the sensor, and how do I remove adhesive residue?

To change the overpatch during the sensor's wear time without tearing off the sensor, we recommend the reusable TapeCover, which is placed between the sensor and the tape and is available for Freestyle Libre 2, Freestyle Libre 3, and Dexcom G7. You can remove adhesive residue from the skin with an adhesive remover from our skin protection range.

You can easily remove or replace the tape at any time during the sensor/pod's wear time: Firmly press the sensor/pod onto the skin from above and carefully peel the tape off the skin around it.
