Frequently asked questions
How does Zuckerschmuck calculate net carbs?
For the information shown in the shop, we subtract the listed polyols from the carbohydrates. Always compare the same reference amount, such as 100 g. This is our calculated net-carb figure and not an individual insulin-dosing recommendation.
How do I convert net carbs into KE or BE?
Use the Diabetes KE Calculator from Zuckerschmuck: select an item from the range or enter the value per 100 g, specify the quantity in grams, and the net carbs will be converted into KE and BE; the calculator does not provide a dosing recommendation. One KE equals 10 g of carbohydrates, and one BE equals 12 g of carbohydrates.
Ingredients
Sweetener (maltitol, E965), coconut milk, water, thickener (modified corn starch E1442, carrageenan E407), fully hardened coconut fat, salt (1.0%), apple extract, emulsifier (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids, E471), acidity regulator (sodium citrates, E331), natural flavoring, preservative (potassium sorbate, E202).

Excessive consumption may have a laxative effect due to the maltitol.

* Note on carbohydrates: Polyols appear in the nutrition table under carbohydrates. How do I calculate insulin for low carb products?
Low-carb products say "sugar-free" on the packaging, but the carbohydrates are usually very high. What does that mean and how much insulin do I need for it? The carbohydrates from polyhydric alcohols have no effect on the metabolism and do not increase blood sugar levels, so they do not need to be calculated in terms of insulin dosage. In concrete terms, this means: you check the packaging to see how many carbohydrates are stated. From that, you subtract the information "of which polyhydric alcohols". The result is the number that you need to take into account in terms of insulin dosage.
